next year. She has experience working with printing companies, and knows how to create a piece that will look good enlarged as well as reduced in size.
“The big part is subject matter, and I try to remember not to be too detailed with the piece. I like to use bold colors,” she said.
Huffmaster doesn’t start on her entry until a couple of weeks before the deadline in October. She creates two, and then lets a close family member and a friend help her select which one to submit.
She, as well as the 2016 top ten finalists, attended the Blue Moon Beer Pairing and Silent Auction at the Walter Anderson Museum of Art. Their original works were auctioned off while guests enjoyed Blue Moon’s Artfully Brewed beverages and hors d’oeuvres.
Huffmaster said she is looking forward to signing posters at her booth during this year’s festival. She has even incorporated her bunny from the 2016 winning piece into a Christmas card design.
Blue Moon Brewing Co. was founded in 1995 in Golden, Colo., when the classic Belgian White beer was enhanced with Valencia orange peel and a touch of coriander. The “Artfully Crafted” beer is distributed on the Coast by F.E.B. Distributing Co. Partners at F.E.B. approached the Chamber for a
chance to recognize Blue Moon
at the festival.
“Together, we took it a step further and turned it into a statewide art contest, asking artists to ‘artfully craft’ a piece
of artwork for a chance to not only win money, but also to be featured in the following year’s festival,” Sutton said.“The winning artist’s work becomes a symbol of the Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival and the arts.”
