COASTNOTES
Set for October 20
story by Kelsey Sunderman-Foster
Coast Episcopal School’s annual Toast to the Coast will take place on October 20 from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. This year’s event will be a “Roaring Twenties Good Time,” prompting guests to throw on their glad rags and get dolled up. It will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jan van Meerveld at 635 East Scenic Drive, Pass Christian. Complimentary parking and shuttle service will be available at Trinity Church.
“This marks the 34th year of this event, which is Coast Episcopal’s primary annual fundraiser,” said Melissa Brown, development and marketing director for the school.
“We want people to know that corporate sponsorships are a big part of our scholarships and other contributions go into our programs and back into the community.”
Coast Episcopal invites guests to travel back in time to the 1920s. “Think Gatsby, flappers and feathers,” Brown said.
The event will feature 30 restaurants, an open bar, signature drink, silent auction which opens online on October 13, art exhibits, dancing, and music by Rewind and is black tie optional.
Tickets are available online until October 19, as well as at the event.

New store in Ocean Springs
story by Kelsey Sunderman-Foster
Sports Shack, previously located in the D’Iberville Promenade, has found its new home in Ocean Springs. The new location is at 1610 Bienville Blvd. in the Oaks
Shopping Center near Froghead Grill. “We really wanted to find a new location that was
on the highway,” said Pam Thompson who owns the store. “It was
difficult to get to us at our old location, and our new location is easily accessible from Highway 90.”
Aside from the convenience of the new location, Thompson and her family are from Ocean Springs and are excited to bring their business to
the city where they reside.
Sports Shack is known for its high-quality sports
merchandise, and is an official collegiate store that sells SEC and NCAA sports apparel and gifts. Along with unique gift items, the store offers free face painting on Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
“We want this place to be more than a store,” Thompson said. “Sports are an experience for both the players and the spectators, and that’s
