The Gulf of Mexico is a special place to live, work, and especially play. Life on the Gulf Coast means a life on the water. It means seeing early morning sun rises while heading out for a day of fishing. It means feeling the salt on our skin after a swim in warm Gulf waters. It means hearing birds call while paddling through coastal bayous. In the coming year, the Gulf of Mexico Alliance is celebrating all of these activities and more as we “Get into the Gulf” on social media throughout 2023.
We’re also exploring places you can go to learn more about the Gulf on the days you don’t want to get your feet wet. The coast’s aquariums, nature centers, and museums are great places learn about the Gulf’s wonders and our maritime heritage. We’ll even highlight kids camps and other events for times when you want to learn more about the Gulf.
Don’t have the skills to get into the Gulf just yet? We have you covered. We’ll share tips on ways you can learn to safely enjoy a day on the water, go fishing, be a better
bird watcher, and add wildlife-friendly features to your backyard.
And, finally, we know that getting into the Gulf is about more than just a chance to play and explore. It’s about giving back to the Gulf by volunteering in our community, protecting our homes from storms, and being good stewards of the Gulf’s resources. Throughout the year, we’ll also share easy actions you can take to make a difference for a healthier Gulf.
When you’re not outdoors or on the water, connect with us online.
