Happy New Year!
We’re starting the new year off right with one of my favorite
special sections, Faces of South Mississippi, where we’ll get to know some of the Coast’s familiar faces – and some not-so- familiar too. We had a blast putting this section together and learning about each of this year’s featured Coasties. From the always-smiling Kevin Riley at Dad’s Super Pawn to the ever-so- glamorous Olivia Brown at La Sauce Style, this issue is filled with unforgettable people.
Congratulations to Bailey Anderson, Miss Mississippi 2021, on placing in the Top 15 in the Miss USA Competition! A nurse, Anderson has used her platform to represent the Magnolia State and advocate for prenatal health. Read more about her and the organization she partnered with the Mississippi Health Department to create, Healthy Moms and Healthy Babies of Mississippi, in our People section.
For our foodies, we have two more exciting dining reviews for you this month: Hatsukoi Restaurant & Sushi Bar in Ocean Springs and Serious Bread Bakery in Bay St. Louis. The new kid on the block, Hatsukoi is making a name for itself as a formidable force of sushi-making magic. Over in the Bay, you may find yourself making a very tough decision – which of these seriously awesome breads to take home with you! We won’t blame you if you can’t choose just one.
Closing out this issue, Aimee Robertson with The Memorial Foundation shares how their organization is bettering the community in this month’s Final Say.
