LETTER from the editor
It’s 2019 and as with every new year, it’s an opportunity for new beginnings; a chance to start over if you feel there’s need for improvement in some area of your life
(and who doesn’t?).
South Mississippi Living
is kicking off the new year with a special section that hasn’t been done before. It’s called City Closeups and features lots of stories about all the lively towns across the Coast. There’s information about new businesses opening, plans for this year and special events.
The Guide to Fitness special section is always good to begin a new year. Get 2019 off to
a good start with this useful information.
Who doesn’t like a
bona fide character? We
consider theater buff and all-around impresario David Delk to be just that. In the People section, read how this shy guy conquered his shyness by entertaining others in a piece by Jeff Clark. We also shine the spotlight on a bevy of Coast debutantes in this section.
The renowned Coast artist Walter Anderson spent time on Horn Island where he gained inspiration from nature for his art. Wanting to truly experience what Anderson saw on this barrier island, the Walter Anderson Museum of Art’s new director, Julian Rankin, camped on the island for a few days. He recounts his time there in a story in the Arts section.
The Dining section has dining reviews that many readers tell us they depend on to make decisions about dining out. This month features Bozos Too in Pascagoula and Fatsumo’s in Pass Christian.
In the Sports & Outdoors section, Tommy Snell outlines the perfect golf resolutions for the new year, Frank Wilem writes about a girl’s first deer hunting experience, and A.J. Giardina touts the winning boys and girls track teams at St. Patrick High School.
A section we hope is helpful each month is Healthy Living. In addition to the monthly story about transformative weight loss, this month has a piece about the effects smart phones are having on young people and for the new year, a story about getting rid of mental clutter.
