LETTER from the editor
There’s just something about a fresh start and the beginning of
a new year that’s appealing. It must be in our DNA as humans
to want to improve ourselves, and turning the calendar to 2018 gives us opportunities to do that. Never mind that most of us can’t imagine how last year flew by
so quickly. It’s gone and any missed opportunities are gone along with it.
The Physical & Financial Fitness special section is just the ticket to begin the year on a positive note. Chances are that losing a few pounds is on many lists of resolutions. This section offers encouraging stories on that front, along with some advice on how to get started with investments and the economic outlook for 2018.
In line with improving
physical fitness is a piece
about the new blood pressure
guidelines recently revealed
by the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology. This story is in the Healthy Living section and has some surprising facts.
A craft project is outlined in the Leisure section that is a perfect fit for the Mardi Gras season so enjoyed by many Coast residents. Several sporting activities are featured in the Sports & Outdoors
section — hunting, tennis and golf — to tickle the interests of a wide group of readers.
The Dining section is always good and this month is no exception with dining reviews of an exciting Italian restaurant in Bay St. Louis and a casual place in Biloxi that’s known for fabulous po- boys. Also, we salute the re-opened White Pillars restaurant and welcome a partnership with the Coast Restaurant Association to these pages.
We have something a little different in this month’s Home section with six pages devoted to the charming, historic Seal Avenue in Biloxi. In the spotlight are three homes that have been lovingly restored by homeowners devoted to local history and the character of vintage neighborhoods.
