SHELLING LANDING GOLF COURSE, the David Love, III’s marsh- meandering masterpiece in Gautier, has new CEO/Owner, Kenny Hughes. With the help of Hughes, Shell Landing has earned its place among the Best Golf Courses in the state.
“Mickey Bradley was my mentor,
and I learned so much from him,” said Hughes. “I know what golfers want on the golf course, and I try to make that happen every day.”
Hughes has been giving golfers what they want for almost 30 years, and now he’s one of the PGA of America’s most respected golf professionals.
Hughes and his staff opened Shell Landing in 2000. “Since his arrival
as the general manager at Shell Landing, he has taken a course in a relatively unknown area and raised the standards to a golf club recognized by Golfweek and Golf Digest as one of the top public courses,” according to
www.shelllandinggolf.com.
In just seven years, Hughes helped Davis Love, III’s marsh-meandering masterpiece gain national attention.
In 2007 Shell Landing was recognized by Golf Digest when it was presented the ‘Architecture Award,’ an acknowledgment for its outstanding design that allows every skill level an opportunity to score.
Shell Landing and Hickory Hill
are experiencing enormous success under Hughes, 53, who understands his obligations to his partners, his employees and his customers. “I feel the weight every day, but it’s a good thing,” he said. “I have to stay alert. With fewer players and more golf
courses, I have to be a lot smarter about marketing the game.”
From the 7000-yard Snapping Turtle Tees (Black) to the encouraging Gopherus Turtle Tees (White/Senior), Shell Landing has earned its place among the Best Golf Courses in the State.
