are successfully competing with the massive franchise discount gyms,
offering two neighborhood fitness centers on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
The first Beau Vie Fitness Center opened in Long Beach in January 2013 and the Ocean Springs branch opened in January 2014. Beau Vie Fitness, translated Beautiful Life Fitness, offers the most state-of-the-art equipment, cardio and free weights available.
“We are like Pier 1 Imports in a Wal-Mart world,” said Glynn Illich. “People are starting to hate long
lines and massive crowds to save a few dollars. When you walk into our centers, a friendly, local ambiance has
been created, and you are assured of knowing your co-members. Though we offer every piece of fitness equipment imaginable, our gyms are not massive like a Wal-Mart. This allows you
to easily get around and get your workout done. ”
Wife and co-owner Iana Illich adds, “We encourage all our new members to take part in a free orientation of our state-of-the-art equipment and a training session to get them started. You are not a number like at big-box crowded gyms.”
Glynn Illich said his two gyms promote cleanliness and a non- crowded environment, catering to busy professionals, moms, seniors and those looking for general fitness. Their facilities have elegant decors, showers and lockers, free workout towels, Wi-
Fi, and locked doors for additional safety. “Through a unique key system, we offer members 24/7 access, year- round,” he said.
Glynn Illich, who grew up in Long Beach and has a degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, met Iana more than four years ago. She is from the small country of Moldavia, near Russia, and they met over lunch to discuss their mutual travels. “Our lunch never ended,” he said. They have been married four years and have a daughter, Ivanna Petra, who is 3, and a son, Ike Marley, who is 1.
