Getting Around Coastal Mississippi

There’s a reason why people from all over the world flock to Coastal Mississippi when they want to relax on a sugary white beach with warm turquoise water, have a little fun at a casino, enjoy a romantic moonlit cruise with their partner, or bond with their families at an adventure park.
That’s because Mississippi Gulf Coast stays can be anything you want, and if you’re flying into the Gulfport- Biloxi International Airport you’ll need a way to get from place to place or risk missing out on everything outside of walking distance of your hotel or bed and breakfast.
And in a place as gorgeous as the 62 miles of coastline with a myriad of beautiful seaside beach towns to explore, you just can’t take that risk. Luckily, you’ll never have to because Coastal Mississippi isn’t just tourist- friendly, it’s also transportation-friendly, and there are numerous stress-free ways to explore.
So once you’ve landed at Harrison County’s resident airfield, how can you explore Coastal Mississippi?
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Coast Transit Authority (CTA) is a public transportation provider with safe, convenient, reliable, and affordable services. It is an inexpensive way to tour the area with ADA accessible buses and trolleys. Other options
include nationally affiliated rental car agencies and limousine services. If you don’t want a rental expense, there are several independent taxi companies or ride- sharing services as alternative ways to travel around the area that are safe and affordable.
BIKING
If you’d rather ride at your speed, biking is a fun, affordable way to see all that Coastal Mississippi has to offer. If you want to traverse to a park or a beach or visit a shop, restaurant, or bar, you’ll have no trouble reserving your ride, thanks to various bike rental companies across the area. Don’t forget that bringing your bike is included with your CTA bus fare!
RIDE THE RAILS
Amtrak passenger train services are set to resume in Spring of this year. The Coast has been without a passenger train since Hurricane Katrina ravaged the shorelines and cities in 2005. The route will consist of two roundtrips a day between New Orleans, La., and Mobile, Ala., with four Mississippi stops in Bay St. Louis, Pascagoula, Gulfport, and Biloxi.
Even though transportation can be one of the trickiest parts of planning a trip, it’s a lot easier than people think and with a little planning, you can reserve the ride of your choice for carefree transportation from shoreline to shoreline.
