Quality of Life
IN SOUTH MISSISSIPPI
PROVIDES ABUNDANCE OF RIVER EXPERIENCES
ABOVE LEFT: Wildlife thrives around the Pascagoula River. ABOVE RIGHT: The Pascagoula River Audubon Center offers visitors a first-hand look at nature.
The Gulf Coast is home to the Pascagoula River, one of the most inhabited river basins in the country. The Pascagoula River is also one of the last, large, free- flowing river systems in the contiguous United States. As such, the river basin supports more than 300 species of birds and a rich diversity of habitats and organisms, many unique to the region.
After nearly a decade of work, the Pascagoula River Audubon Center opened in Moss Point last October. The center,
as part of the National Audubon Society, promotes conservation and education about birds, wildlife, the habitats that support them, and local natural resources,
namely the Pascagoula River.
As a gateway to the Pascagoula
River, the center provides visitors with
an abundance of unique first-hand explorations of the river’s rich flora
and fauna. On-site experiences include interpreted boat tours of the river, rain gardens, elevated boardwalks and trails with views of wetlands and river habitats, and many others.

5107 Arthur St., Moss Point to experience the natural beauty of our Gulf Coast.
