BORN TO WIN
Bralon Robinson makes
Alcorn Track and Field History as SWAC Indoor Champion
Motivation. Perseverance. Passion.
ese are three important characteristics that an individual must possess to achieve greatness. One must display the necessary drive to push beyond the chal- lenges to attain their goals. A winning attitude is the key factor in turning a dream into a reality.
Bralon Robinson, a sophomore biology pre-physical therapy major from Can- ton, Mississippi, proved that he was born to win when he was crowned the men’s 60m-dash champion on the nal day of competition at the SWAC Indoor Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama. His victory time also set an Alcorn State University track and eld record.
Having his name written in Alcorn’s sports history is an accomplishment in which Robinson takes great pride. His early success is an indication of his will to chase greatness.
“Knowing the rich history Alcorn has when it come to sports and to have my name in the record books with some of the greats that have passed through is truly an honor. I don’t take it lightly.”
e road to making history hasn’t been an easy one for Robinson. e extended time preparing his body for competition mixed with late night practice sessions makes his victory even sweeter. He knows he worked hard for everything he’s accomplished, and he plans to stay strong in his regimen to achieve more in the future.
“It took a lot of hard work and dedication to reach that milestone, whether it’s waking up early to get treatment on my body, staying after practice to perfect my craft, or making sure I stay in the weight room to add more strength, or making sure that I include the proper foods and uids in my diet.”
A number of things inspire Robinson to be his best. e young athletes in his hometown, the belief of his family, and his dream of a professional track and eld career are driving forces behind his monumental surge to the top.
“ ere are many things that inspire me to be great. I don’t want to let my family down, because they have faith in me. I want to give younger athletes in my city someone to look up to so they can be inspired and motivated. I have passion for this sport, which motivates me to one day become the face for the sport both nationally and internationally.”
When his career ends and the athleticism fades and he can no longer stride around the track, Robinson is con dent he will be able to look back and know his name will be synonymous with greatness.
“I want to be great. When my days of running are over, I want to be recognized as one of the greatest athletes to ever participate in the sport.”
