5 Minutes With... Tim Morrissey
What, where, when was your first job in the gaming industry? My first
job in the gaming industry was with Herbst Gaming, which then became Affinity Gaming at the Sands Regency
in Reno. I was finishing up my degree
at the University of Nevada Reno and landed one of two positions in their management training program. I spent a year rotating through each department at the property learning how each operated and impacted the organization.
What do you like best about your current job? My current role as vice president and general manager of Magnolia Bluffs Casino & Hotel is extremely rewarding as I have been trusted to bring our new property into our organization and join an amazing team of almost 200 existing Magnolia Bluffs team members that have been welcoming and have embraced the transition.
What is the best piece of business advice you ever received and from whom did you receive it? “Can’t never could do anything! Success begins with mindset.” Told to me by Wes Koza, my
high school coach.

What is it about the gaming industry that makes it a good industry? I couldn’t imagine working in a different industry. The gaming industry offers endless opportunities to grow and be successful. It is filled with amazing people who work hard day in and day out to create memorable experiences for guests to keep them coming back. No two days are the same, something new breaks every day and there is always
a new challenge but with the amazing colleagues in the industry and on my team, I am confident we can overcome anything.
