F&B employee acts quickly to save life
BILOXI — Quick thinking by a Treasure Bay crewmember helped save a life this past December. On Dec. 26, Billy Colston, a steward supervisor in the infinity buffet, was helping clear dishes in the buffet when he heard someone yell, “He’s choking!”
“I looked and saw an elderly man turning purple and crying,” said Colston. “I knew he needed help immediately.” That’s when
Colston sprang into action.
Thank You For Your Service
Hard Rock Biloxi recognized approximately 60 of its employees who served in the military. As a thank you for their sacrifice and service and a way to mark Veterans Day, each of the veterans received a comp for two to one of Hard Rock’s restaurants.
After moving a chair, he
was able to perform the
Heimlich maneuver and
after several attempts,
cleared the obstruction
from the guest’s throat.
Once the guest was
checked out by first
responders, he was able
to leave on his own. The
guest and his wife were grateful to Colston.
“It was a scary situation, but I’m glad I was able to help him out,” said Colston. Remembering his EMS training from when he worked as a security guard, he recognized an emergency and knew what to do.
