Charities win with Boyd Gaming’s Wreaths of Hope
MISSISSIPPI — Mississippi’s two Boyd Gaming properties participated in the company’s annual holiday tradition, Wreaths of Hope, a competition where
local nonprofit organizations have the chance to win cash prizes based on customer votes, as well as gain exposure in the community.
In December, both IP Casino Resort Spa in Biloxi and Sam’s Town Casino in Tunica sponsored Wreaths of Hope with six charities participating in Tunica and 18 charities competing in Biloxi. After giving guests several weeks to view the wreaths and vote on their favorites, the winners were revealed.
In Tunica, the Tunica Humane Society came in first place, winning $3,000. House of Grace was the second-place winner, receiving $1,500, and in third place was the American Cancer Society getting a prize of $500.
Five prizes were awarded in Biloxi, with the Humane Society of South Mississippi
taking first and a $3,000 prize. In second place
was the Mississippi Center for Autism and Related Developmental Disabilities, $2,500; followed by the Woodside Wildlife Rescue in third, $2,000; Back Bay Mission in fourth, $1,000; and The Salvation Army

In both regions of the state, the event has become
popular among area charities, which look forward to the competition and prizes.
Granting Christmas Wishes
The holiday spirit shone brightly as associates of Pearl River Resort granted
Christmas gift wishes to more than 80 children in the foster care system. Dolls,
bikes, skateboards, hover boards, clothes, and much more quickly filled a meeting space at Golden Moon Casino. The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians’ foster care program distributed the items to the children at a special Christmas party.
In The Holiday Spirit
Isle of Capri Lula was in the spirit of giving throughout the holiday. Isle team members collected more than a thousand non-perishable food items to donate to Clarksdale Care Station and Angels of Grace Family Center. Team members also collected a multitude of socks for senior citizens at Crestpark Nursing Home in
Helena, Arkansas and the Clarksdale Nursing Center in Clarksdale, Mississippi. The property gave 69 turkeys to local law enforcement, the Tri-County Health Department, and the St. Luke Food Pantry.
