Sawyer Brown performs in Tunica
Country music band set to appear at Fitz Casino Hotel on June 3
MISSISSIPPI — Sawyer Brown will perform live on stage in Tunica on Saturday, June 3, at Fitz Casino Hotel.
Sawyer Brown is an American country music band that was formed in 1981 in Apopka, Florida. The band’s name is derived from the name of the street that the band’s lead singer, Mark Miller, lived on during his childhood. Sawyer Brown began performing at small clubs and bars in the Florida area before relocating to Nashville, Tennessee in 1984.
The band’s early years were spent touring and building a following, but their big break came in 1985 with the release of their self-titled debut album, which included the hit single “Step That Step.”
Sawyer Brown’s energetic live performances and catchy songs quickly made them one of country music’s most popular acts, and they went on to have a string of hit singles throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including “Some Girls Do,” “The Dirt Road,” and “Thank God for You.”
The current members of Sawyer Brown are Mark Miller (lead vocals), Gregg “Hobie” Hubbard (keyboards), Jim Scholten (bass guitar), Joe “Curly” Smyth (drums), and Shayne Hill (lead guitar). The band has undergone a few lineup changes over the years, with Miller being the only constant member.
In addition to their success on the country music charts, Sawyer Brown has also won several awards, including the Academy of Country Music’s Vocal Group of the Year award in 1997. They
