The Wallflowers perform at Pearl River Resort May 4
CHOCTAW — The Wallflowers will perform at Silver Star Hotel & Casino’s Cen- ter Stage on Saturday, May 4.
The Wallflowers emerged onto the music scene in the early 1990s, led by frontman Ja- kob Dylan, son of the legendary Bob Dylan. Formed in Los Angeles in 1989, the band’s early lineup included Rami Jaffee, Tobi Miller, Barrie Maguire, and Peter Yanow- itz. Drawing influences from classic rock, folk, and alternative rock, The Wallflowers crafted a distinctive sound characterized by Dylan’s raspy vocals, introspective lyrics, and catchy melodies.
Their self-titled debut album, released in 1992, garnered attention with tracks like “6th Avenue Heartache” and “Three Mar- lenas,” showcasing their knack for blending poignant storytelling with infectious hooks. However, it was their sophomore effort, Bringing Down the Horse (1996), that propelled them to mainstream success. The album featured the smash hit “One Headlight,” a melancholic anthem that earned them two
Grammy Awards, including Best Rock Song. The Wallflowers’ music often delves into themes of love, loss, and the complexities of human relationships, resonating with audiences seeking heartfelt, introspective songwriting. Tracks like “The Difference,” “Sleepwalker,” and “Heroes” further so-
anthems, appealing to a broad spectrum of listeners.
