Stars coming to state’s casinos
TUNICA — Casinos in Mississippi continue to add headline entertainment. Jackpot! takes a look at performers now scheduled to appear in Tunica and at Pearl River Resort.
• Horseshoe Tunica welcomes The Mavericks: ‘En Espanol’ World Tour on Friday, March 4. The Mavericks are an American country music band that combines Tex-Mex with neotraditional country music, Latin, and rockabilly influences. Between 1991 and 2003, the band recorded six studio albums, in addition to charting 14 singles on the Billboard country charts. Their highest-peaking American single was 1996’s “All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down,” a collaboration with accordionist Flaco Jiménez. They are best known in the UK for their 1998 single “Dance the Night Away,” which spent 18 weeks on the chart, peaking at No. 4. In 1996, The Mav- ericks won a Grammy Award for the song “Here Comes the Rain.”
The Aaron Lewis: Frayed at Both Ends, The Acoustic Tour, Friday, is at Horseshoe on March 11. Lewis was a found- ing member and lead vocalist of the band Staid and is enjoying success as a country music solo artist.

Netflix specials, “Ball Hog” (2020), “Mostly Stories” (2016) and “Completely Normal” (2014), Segura will get lots of laughs. Com- ing soon: Heather Land’s “Age Gap Tour” stops at Horseshoe on Friday, May 20. Land, a viral phenomenon, has been viewed more than 300 million times online and now has a website, a new album, a tour bus, and a book. See what it’s all about live at Horseshoe. Jeff Dunham, comedy superstar and America’s favorite ventriloquist, originally scheduled for July 23, 2020, and initially rescheduled for July 22, 2021 at Tunica’s Horseshoe Casino, has been rescheduled again for June 23, 2022. Tickets from both previous dates will be honored at the new date or refunds are available now by request. Dunham is bringing his new “Seriously!?” Tour to Horseshoe, and he’s bringing along Walter, Bubba J, Peanut, Achmed The Dead Ter- rorist, and the new guy!
• Fitz Casino & Hotel is home to the The Jazz & Jokes Kings of Comedy, Saturday, March 26, at 8 p.m., tickets on sale now. Jazz & Jokes will be hosted by Tony Tone and features Happy Johnson and Henry Coleman and includes musical performances by The PC Band and Tamara Jones Monger.
Coming soon to Fitz Casino & Hotel: The Father’s Day Tail- gate & Blues Show featuring Willie Clayton, T.K. Soul, Big Pokey, JWONN, LJ Echols, Terry Wright and Karen Wolfe, is set for Sunday, June 19, at 2 p.m., starting at $30.
• At Gold Strike Casino Resort, see comedian Steve Trevino in the “I Speak Wife Tour” on Friday, March 11. A stand-up co- median, writer, and producer, Trevino has released three stand-up specials, the first of which was filmed for Showtime, the second released on Netflix, and the third on Amazon Prime Video. He also worked as a writer for Carlos Mencia’s Comedy Central show, “Mind of Mencia” and Pitbull’s “La Esquina.”
See country music superstar Travis Tritt on Saturday, April 2. Tritt has also charted more than 40 times on the Hot Country Songs charts, including five number ones—”Help Me Hold On,”
“Anymore,” “Can I Trust You with My Heart,” “Foolish Pride” and “Best of Inten- tions”—and 15 additional top ten singles. Tritt’s musical style is defined by mainstream country and Southern rock influences.
