Wreaths of Hope at Sam’s Town Tunica
Tunica Humane Society, House of Grace, American Cancer Society benefit
TUNICA – Wreaths of Hope, a fund-raising decorating competition held at Boyd Gaming properties across the country, raised money for a wide variety of deserving charitable organizations. Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall in Tunica participated and recently announced the winning charities for its contest. Gary Potts, director of human resources and security, presented checks to the winners: Tunica Humane Society, first place; The House of Grace, second place; and The American Cancer Society, third place.
Local non-profits were invited to decorate holiday wreaths. The decorations were designed to represent the charity’s mission or were simply decorated to be the best aesthetically looking wreath.
The sponsoring organizations’ role, and only financial responsibility, was to decorate a wreath, provided by Sam’s Town to the best of their ability. Sam’s Town guests’ voted to determine the winners. Guests could vote online and on-property (one vote per person per day). The top three wreaths were awarded a share of several thousand dollars.
