Tunica hosts a variety of entertainers
TUNICA — Casinos in Tunica continue to add headline enter- tainment representing a variety of music genres. Performers slated to appear include Tracy Lawrence, Deana Carter, Phil Vassar, Little Feat, and Vicki Lawrence. Jackpot! looks at the performers currently scheduled to appear.
• Horseshoe Tunica welcomes Chris Tucker, Friday, Nov. 11, and Little Feat in the Waiting For Columbus Tour, Friday, Dec. 2.
Chris Tucker is an International Award-winning actor, pro- ducer, and comedian, best known for his role of Detective James Carter in the “Rush Hour” blockbuster franchise. In 1997, Tucker executive produced and co-starred with
Charlie Sheen in the hit movie, “Money Talks” and later co-starred in the 2013 Oscar-nominated film, “Silver Linings Playbook.” In 2015, the Netflix special “Chris Tucker Live” was released to criti- cal acclaim.
Little Feat will kick off December at Horseshoe with its Waiting for Columbus Tour. The band’s brilliant musicianship transcends boundaries, uniting California rock, funk, folk, jazz, country, rockabilly, and New Orleans swamp boogie into a rich gumbo. The Dixie Chicken album, released 50 years ago, is considered the band’s landmark release that continues to resonate today. The title track is a sig- nature song and helped define the Little Feat sound.

comedienne Vicki Lawrence is one of
the most beloved television personalities
of her generation. Plucked out of total obscurity as a high school se- nior, Vicki went on to become part of the now-legendary cast of the “Carol Burnett Show.” “I went to the Harvard School of Comedy in front of America,” says Lawrence of her Burnett Show training.
In the seventh season, and hundreds of hilarious sketches later, at the ripe old age of 24, Vicki created her most endearing character to date, Thelma Harper, or “Mama” as she is better known to her fans. After the Burnett Show, Vicki went on to star in “Mama’s Family,” which consistently topped the ratings for its entire six-year run of original shows. “Mama” has attained a cult status among her legions of loyal television viewers.
Following the ratings for the “Carol Burnett Showstopper Spe- cial” that garnered more than 50 million viewers, Lawrence decided that the time was right to take Mama out of the closet, dust off her sensible shoes and hit the road with her touring production, “Vicki Lawrence and Mama: A Two-Woman Show.”
Coming soon to Fitz Casino: See soul singer J-Wonn on Satur- day, Nov. 26, at 8 p.m., starting at $30. Jawonn Smith, better known by his stage name J-Wonn, is a soul singer that hails from Jackson, Mississippi, and has built a name for himself following the release of his hit single, “I Got This Record.” During high school, he was a member of a hip hop group that also included elements of R&B. The group gained an artist development deal and it helped Smith to learn a lot about navigating the music industry. It also gave him an opportunity to grow as an artist. J-Wonn followed up “I Got This Record” with several other hits that were in continuous rotation
on Southern Soul radio stations across the Southeast region. He has also won several awards from various outlets in- cluding Best Entertainer, Artist Of The Year, and Best New Single. His new sin- gle, “Move On,” is from his latest full- length album, The Legacy.
• At Gold Strike Casino Resort, the casino has announced headliners that will be appearing in the near future, including country music star Tracy Law- rence, as well as Phil Vassar and Deana Carter in “The Coming Home for Christmas Tour.”
Tracy Lawrence appears at Gold Strike on Friday, Nov. 18. Lawrence released his first album in 1991 and by January of 1992 garnered his first No. 1 hit single, “Sticks and Stones.” In 1993, the album Alibis was released and the ti- tle song hit No. 1 on the country charts. Lawrence won the Top New Male Vo- calist at the 28th Annual Academy of
Country Music awards in 1993.
The country music hit maker followed with more albums and more top charting songs including the career-defining song, “Time Marches On.” Other hits include “If The World Had a Front Porch,” “Texas Tornado,” “Better Man, Better Off,” “How Cow- girls Say Goodbye,” “Lessons Learned,” “Paint Me A Birmingham,” “Strong,” “Find Out Who Your Friends Are,” “The Good Ole

Country music stars Phil Vassar and Deana Carter bring “The
Coming Home for Christmas Tour” to Gold Strike on Saturday, Dec. 17. Vassar’s hits include “Carlene,” “That’s When I Love You,” “Words Are Your Wheels,” “This is God,” “In Read Love,” “Last Day of My Life,” and “The Woman in My Life.” Other hits include “Love is a Beautiful Thing,” and more. Carter hits include the Bill- board No. 1 hit “Strawberry Wine” as well as “We Danced Anyway,” “How Did I Get Here,” “Once Upon a December,” “Count Me In,” and more.
