“The World Series of Poker is back...with record breaking attendance so far,” said Ty Stewart, senior vice president and executive director of the WSOP. “We expect a huge response to the full-scale return of our regional mid-stakes tour.”
Daniel Higginbotham, Horseshoe poker/sportsbook manager, said the casino’s January WSOP Circuit events consistently produce prize pools in excess of $2.5 million. “Last January was $2.9 million with a record-breaking number of over 9,200, and we anticipate a very successful event this January based on the response we have received since posting the schedule.”
Poker players will be glad to hear that Horseshoe has also added amenities this year to make it easier for them to participate, such as giving them the ability to book their own rooms online at the WSOP poker rate and to get on the list for cash games by signing up through the Bravo Poker Live app.
Before the official event kicks off at Horseshoe Tunica, there will be a casino employees no-limit hold’em (NLH) side event (open to all casino employees with a valid gaming badge from any jurisdiction) on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 7 p.m. with a $100 buy-in.

WSOPC Satellites in most cases feature $80 buy-ins, are scheduled twice daily Jan. 19 through Jan. 30, and have 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. start times. Main Event Satellites have $250 buy-ins and are at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25; 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26; and 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27.
