representative will find that player at their machine. “[The winner] will play a portable game right there on the casino floor, such as dropping a Plinko chip, picking [a symbol] off a game board, spinning a wheel or rolling dice. The prize is determined by the result of the game and the Slot View Play prize is posted to the winner’s card via their players account shortly after.”
Michelle Collins, marketing director at WaterView Casino Hotel in Vicksburg, added that hot seats are another form of casino drawings. “But with this ‘drawing,’ guests must be actively playing with their Rewards card properly inserted into any slot machine to enter,” she said, explaining during a promotion’s set time frame, a slot position is randomly selected via the player tracking system and the player at that position is the winner.
At WaterView after the winning seat is determined, an announcement goes out in the casino saying in what section the casino team will find the winner. “It’s like the element of surprise,” Collins said. “I like to sneak up on the winner and have a random conversation to ease their suspicions. Then I tell them why I’m there. The happiness and smiles are worth it.”
No points or entries are needed to participate in a hot seat promotion. The most important thing to know, stressed both Greenfield and Collins, is to always have your players club card inserted into the slot machine. “Hot seat winners are found because their card is properly inserted into their favorite machine and they are actively playing,” Greenfield said.
In March, WaterView is hosting the Leprechaun Luck Hot Seats on Mondays. From 2 to 7 p.m., one winner will be selected every 30 minutes to win a FreePlay prize ranging from $150 to $1,000. In addition to actively gaming at any slot machine to enter, players must
also be at the winning slot position to receive their prize.
Of course, hot seats are not only found at slot machines, but also at table games, letting those players in on the fun. At Island View, in March, the Table Game Hot Seats are every Tuesday, from 5 to 10 p.m., and every Saturday, from 5 to 11 p.m. During those times, a table games winner will be selected every 15 minutes to win $200 in Free Bet Vouchers. Players club members must be playing with their club card to
be eligible to win.
